What Does Your Name Mean?

Hall of Fame: Not a good week for it

I only have one entry this week. And even then, I'm not sure if I can remember who it is *sigh*

Okay, hall of fame entrant this week is.... *drum roll*

Guy with the cool hat in The Drapers Arms on Tuesday night (31st October).

He didn't do much to be fair. We were having a meal (my goodbye meal) and there were a group of guys at the table behind us, who all had the hard cases for instruments (I guess). One of the cases fell down and the guy who owned it apologised and (you've guessed it) the man with the cool cowboy hat did too, and gave me a huge smile! As I've said before, niceness impresses me!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I was REALLY upset last night. Floods of tears etc. When I went upstairs I read a Psalm (as I like to do when I'm upset) and then I got into bed and I curled up and prayed. Immediately, as soon as I started praying, I felt an immense calm. I stopped crying completely and I started to relax. I didn't pray for all that long, just a few minutes, but the change was amazing and immediate.

There is no calm like the calm that God brings.

Amen!

The Secret Policeman's Ball

I was watching this last night. A lot of it was very good, one thing did strike me though. A few of the acts (two, I think) made jokes about rape. At the end of the show, Jeremy Irons got up and asked any man who has ever used the internet to stand up. He then went on to say about a man who was arrested for writing about how he disagrees with the Tunisian government's policies about such and such on the internet. He then asked any woman who has ever been a student to stand up. He then went on to say about a law student (sorry, can't remember where it was)who was found dead in her car and there was evidence of sexual violence. I may be the only one who thinks this but doesn't joking about rape literally minutes before he made this point kind of lessen the effect?? Doesn't it kind of dampen the effectiveness of the point Mr Irons was making?

Since when was rape something to laugh about anyway?
